A swimming pond (also known as a bathing pond) combines the best features of a natural habitat and a swimming pool to create a back-to-nature bathing experience. However, unlike a conventional pool, a swimming pond constitutes the fabulously beautiful, vibrant focal point of your garden all year round and exudes a special charm during every season.

How it works

The development and functioning of our swimming ponds resembles that of natural lakes. BioNova swimming ponds consist of different zones. Plants help purify the water, which is itself guided through sand and gravel beds, and this gentle technology works in the service of natural recirculation.

Depending on type, swimming ponds need no or only very little technology. At BioNova, we distinguish between three different types:

Type 1: Pure nature – The water is cleaned entirely by plants and living organisms and the pond can be constructed without any additional technology.
Type 2: Swimming pond with skimmer: The water on the surface is drawn off by means of a skimmer and, in the same way as in type 1, is purified in a regeneration area created in the form of a ground filter.
Type 3: Dual-pond construction: In this case, the regeneration area is partially or completely separate from the swimming area and therefore distinct from it.

Notes on maintenance

In order to get maximum enjoyment from your swimming pond or natural pool, it needs to be cleaned at regular intervals. This ensures that you can continue to enjoy the water untroubled. This does not demand any particular specialist knowledge on your part because the proven BioNova system is easy to maintain.
And the good news is that most of the work is done by nature itself.

The water in the swimming pond is cleaned organically. Because algae are part of the natural ecosystem, they are also present in a swimming pond. They are crucial to ensuring the oxygen supply. Nature and forward-looking planning combine to prevent excessive algal growth.
