How it works

Our swimming ponds are designed and function in a way similar to natural lakes. BioNova swimming ponds are divided into different zones. Plants assist in water purification, while the water flows purposefully through sand and gravel beds. This gentle technology supports the natural cycle of recirculation.

Depending on the type, swimming ponds require no technology or only minimal technical support. At BioNova, we differentiate between three distinct types:

Type 1: Pure nature – The water is purified solely by plants and living organisms, allowing the pond to be built without any additional technology.
Type 2: Swimming pond with skimmer: – Surface water is removed using a skimmer and, just like in Type 1, is purified in a regeneration area designed as a ground filter.
Type 3: Dual-pond construction: – In this design, the regeneration area is partially or fully separated from the swimming area, creating a distinct setup.

Notes on maintenance

To fully enjoy your swimming pond or natural pool, regular cleaning is essential. This ensures that you can continue to enjoy clear and pleasant water without any worries. The good news is that you don’t need any specialist knowledge, as the proven BioNova system is exceptionally easy to maintain.
And the best part – most of the work is done by nature itself.

The water in a swimming pond is purified biologically. Since algae are an integral part of the natural ecosystem, they are also present in a swimming pond and play a vital role in maintaining the oxygen supply. With thoughtful planning and nature’s help, excessive algae growth can be effectively prevented.
